March 22 Face-off Set for Annual AJO4LAX Lacrosse Fest in GA

Marietta, GA On Saturday March 22, Pope High School Stadium will be the epicenter of Atlanta area varsity lacrosse action. That's when 10 highly rated teams will face-off in the 8th Annual AJO4LAX Fest. The first of five back-to-back GHSA sanctioned games on a single field begins at 10 a.m., and concludes with the highly anticipated pairing of last year's AAAA and AAAAA State Champions:

10 am - Blessed Trinity vs. Pope
Noon - Decatur vs. Northview
2 pm - Lassiter vs. Walton
4 pm - Lovett vs. Lambert
6 pm - Westminster vs. Centennial

Lacrosse was sanctioned by the GHSA in 2002. Sadly, the Atlanta lacrosse community has suffered the loss of several high school lacrosse players during the past decade. The AJO4Lax Fest honors the memory of Andrew Oswald, a star Pope High School attackman who tragically died in a single-car accident in Marietta, GA in 2005. In addition to annual scholarship awards, the Andrew J. Oswald Memorial Fund, Ltd. makes grants to community-based varsity and youth lacrosse projects, provides low-cost equipment rentals, and sponsors the Safe America Foundation's Teen Driving Academy.

"We celebrate Andrew's life by supporting lacrosse which was his passion; and by ensuring that our teens are making good life decisions on and off the field," said Andrew Oswald's father, and the Fund's co-founder and President, Bruce Oswald.

The AJO4LAX Fest takes its name from Andrew Oswald's initials, the #4 game jersey he wore, and his passion for lacrosse. Tickets, which are good for all five games, are $7 for adults and $3 for children.
