St. Andrews Rally Falls Short vs. Dayton Home Opener

Laurinburg, NC - The St. Andrews University men's lacrosse team fell in their home opener Sunday afternoon 16-11 to the University of Dayton at Knights Field.

After the Knights (0-1) got on the board first, Dayton (2-0) would come charging back to score the next 6 goals to take a 6-1 lead at half while also outshooting the Knights 29-5 in the first half.

However, St. Andrews would not back down and came roaring back to almost catch the Flyers by outscoring them 10-7 after being down 9-1 early in the third quarter. SAU also outscored them 6-4 in the fourth quarter (and outshot them 10-7) as both teams scored 10 goals in the second half.

The Knights were led by senior Chris Michela's 4 goals and sophomore Jason Wilson's three. Also scoring multiple goals were freshman Nick Foster and sophomore Cha'Sed Miller with two each while sophomore Connor Cather added 3 assists.

The Knights will next be in action on Saturday as they travel to S.C. to play conference foe College of Charleston (2-1) at 5:00 pm.
