Shorter Tops Roberts Wesleyan and Tennessee Wesleyan

ROME--The Lady Hawks have played twice over the last two days, and both days they received the same outcome, a win. On Monday Shorter topped Roberts Wesleyan 17-13 on the road, and then Tuesday returned home to top Tennessee Wesleyan, 14-9.

The wins improve the Lady Hawks to 2-1 on the season.

Against the RedHawks of Roberts Wesleyan, Shorter was led by four goal performances from Shelby Beverly, Aiste Pranciliauskaite, and Mia Wiggins. In Goal, Taylor Moody recorded 15 saves while facing 28 shots.

The Lady Hawks, on Tuesday, got off to a slow start, not scoring until the 17:20 mark as Mia Wiggins scored her first of five goals on the night, to make it a 2-1 game. Shorter added four more goals in the half, and took a 5-4 lead into the intermission.

In the second Half, the Lady Hawks nine times, while holding the Lady Bulldogs to four goals.

Along with Wiggins' five goals, both, Beverly and Rachel Skinner added two goals each; while, Crystal Marshall, Ashley Nuqui, Katie Ott, and Pranciliauskaite one each.

Moody played 55:11 in goal for Shorter; making eight saves while facing 16 shots. Tennessee Wesleyan's Nicolette Dungee played in the entire game in goal, making 18 saves on 36 shots faced. Overall the Lady Hawks outshot the Lady Bulldogs 40-18.

Shorter held a 12-8 advantage in ground balls and a 15-9 advantage in draw controls.

The Lady Hawks will be back in action this weekend as they travel to McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill. and Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. Friday at McKendree game time is set for 5:00 pm EST, and Saturday at Lindenwood the game will begin at 3:00 pm EST.
