Tigers Fall to Bates in Season Opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Moriah Greenstein struck for three goals and dished out five assists to help Bates College record a 20-4 victory over Colorado College in the season opener for both teams on Thursday afternoon at CC's Washburn Field.

Greenstein did all of her damage during the first half when the Bobcats registered 12 consecutive goals before Madeline Scherer put the Tigers on the board 2:31 before intermission.

Dylan Voneiff and Scherer scored two minutes apart midway through the second half to make the score 16-3.

Scherer led the Tigers with a pair of goals, while Mary Taussig also found the net once with 1:32 remaining in the contest.

The Bobcats finished with a 30-16 advantage in total shots and won 16 of 19 draw controls.

CC's Maddie Pillari made seven saves in her collegiate debut.

Bates starter Hannah Jeffrey stopped five of the six shots she faced before giving way to Jill Conway for the final 25:54.

Colorado College begins a run of five consecutive road games next Thursday at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
