Hurley's Six Points Pace Siena Past Binghamton

Red-shirt junior captain Richie Hurley scored six points and was one of three Saints to record hat tricks as Siena Lacrosse defeated Binghamton 13-9 in Vestal, N.Y. Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week Jordan Barlow (four points) and MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Conor Prunty also tallied hat tricks.

A Preseason All-MAAC selection, Hurley has erupted for a team-high 13 points over the first three games of the season. Red-shirt sophomore goalie Tommy Cordts was equally sharp on the defensive end once again, posting a career-high 13 saves for the Saints (2-1).

Binghamton (1-1) scored three straight goals to claim a 3-2 lead over the Saints early in the second quarter. But the Saints responded with five unanswered goals to take a 7-3 lead at the break and never trailed again.

The Bearcats rallied to as close as 10-8 with 8:07 remaining, but the Saints scored three times in less than three minutes late to put it away.

Senior CLASS Award candidate Colin Clive added two goals including the game-winner for the Saints, which also received goals from Kyle Curry and Nate Barry.

Matt Springer paced Binghamton with four goals, in the process becoming the first player in the Bearcats' 13-year Division I history to eclipse 100 career goals.

The Saints continue their season opening five-game road trip Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's. The Red Storm entered this week ranked No. 19 in the USILA Coaches' Poll and 18th in the Warrior Media Poll.
