Shepherd Improves to 2-0 with Win over Wheeling Jesuit

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Junior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) had four goals and three assists, while sophomore attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn) added four goals and an assist to lead Shepherd to an 18-12 win over Wheeling Jesuit in lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Sunday.

Sophomore midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) tallied three goals and two assists. Senior midfielder Christina Ferrara (California, Md./Leonardtown) recorded a pair of goals, while freshman midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) had a goal and an assist.

Senior attacker Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), freshman midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale), freshman attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro), and freshman attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) each had single goals.

Elizabeth Hales scored a game-high five goals to lead the Cardinals. Jesse Tufnell added three goals.

Junior netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) recorded seven saves for the Rams, while Marie Austin had six saves for the Cardinals.

Shepherd had a 9-5 lead at halftime.

Shepherd held a 28-26 edge in shots and an 18-14 advantage in draw controls. The Cardinals had a 221-15 edge in ground balls.

The Rams were successful on 17 of 18 clears, while the Cardinals converted on 12 of 15

Shepherd improves to 2-0, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to.0-1. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Chestnut Hill for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
