Shenandoah Falls to Frostburg State

WINCHESTER, Va. Visiting Frostburg State held Shenandoah University off the scoreboard for the first 38:28 in a 9-2 non-league men's lacrosse victory Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats (2-0) scored the opening five goals of the contest and kept SU (2-2) from finding the back of the net until Aaron Paul scored unassisted at the 6:32 mark of the third.

FSU answered Paul's goal with two more to finish the third before sophomore Connor Bishop tallied unassisted at 13:36 for what proved to be the Hornets final goal of the game.

Frostburg used dominant performances at the faceoff 'x' and with its ride to maintain possession throughout the contest.

The Bobcats won 12 of 15 faceoffs on the day, including 8 of 9 in the second half, and forced Shenandoah into 13 failed clears.

The Hornets, who successfully cleared on four of five chances in the opening stanza, failed on 12 of 18 combined attempts in the second and third quarters.

FSU also held a 47-19 advantage in shots with SU taking 11 of those shots in the final 15 minutes.

Freshman Ben Judy was outstanding in the goal, making a season-best 22 saves. He had eight stops in the third quarter alone.

The Hornets are back in action on Saturday at 1:00 in a home non-league contest against Hood. This game is also the opener in a doubleheader with the Hornet women.
