Millersville Downs IUP 19-5 to Even PSAC Record
INDIANA, Pa. – Liz Richmond (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) netted four goals to key Millersville's 19-5 victory at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's lacrosse action on Sunday.
Ashley Mazzie (Barto, PA/Boyertown) and Anna Marmer (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) added three goals apiece for the Marauders (6-9, 5-5 PSAC), who evened their conference mark and remained in control of their own destiny for the PSAC playoffs.
Brittany Pikur and Mallory Zelawski each scored twice for the Indians (3-10, 1-9 PSAC), who were held to five or fewer goals for the third time this season.
Mazzie and Joann Caminiti (North Wales, PA/North Penn) tallied in the opening four minutes to stake Millersville to a 2-0 lead.
Richmond completed a natural hat trick, tallying her first three of four unassisted markers within a 1 minute, 23 second span that stretch the Marauder lead to 5-0 with 14:28 remaining in the first half.
Holding a 7-3 advantage at the 28:07 mark, Kelly Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) sparked an 11-0 burst over the next 18 minutes.
Jackie Geiger (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) capped the run with her lone goal with 13:51 to play.
Pikur and Kylie Miller pulled IUP within 18-5, scoring back-to-back before Amy Longenecker (West Chester, PA/Henderson) capped the day with an unassisted tally with 2:50 to play.
The Marauders return to action at home against Shippensburg on Thursday. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
