Farrell Explodes for 10 Pts. as #3 Limestone Blanks Mount Olive

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Fifteen first half goals, combined with stellar defense, led No. 3 Limestone (4-0, 2-0 CC) earned a 21-0 victory over Mount Olive (3-1, 1-1 CC) in an NCAA Division II women's lacrosse game on Saturday, March 1.

Entering the day with 15 points on 10 goals, senior attack Katie Farrell (Brooks, Ga.) boosted those numbers considerably as she scored eight goals and had a pair of assists to finish with 10 points to pace the Saints. She was joined by sophomore attack Carleigh Davis (Eldersburg, Md.) with two goals and four assists, along with a pair of draw controls and three groundballs, while senior attack Sarah Oor (Uxbridge, Canada) finished with two goals and two assists.

Junior attack Keirsten MacLellan (Glyndon, Md.) added a pair of scores, an assist, three draws and two groundball pickups and both junior midfielder Jessica Aguanno (Delray Beach, Fla.) and senior attack Kacie Harris (Stanley, N.Y.) each had two goals. Defensively, senior defender Maia Czarnecki (Oswego, N.Y.) registered a whopping four caused turnovers along with four groundballs and senior defender Samantha Cock (Terra Cotta, Ontario, Canada) had seven draw controls.

Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Teeter (Auburn, N.Y.) started and played the first half, making one save and preserving the shutout, to collect the win and move to 4-0 on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Diana Rice (Seaford, N.Y.) saw the most reserve action in goal as she logged 23:04.

While the records might have been equal, the Saints quickly showed that the teams were not as they registered nearly a goal a minute as they raced out to a commanding 8-0 lead by the 21:53 mark. During that stretch Oor had a pair of goals and two assists to fuel the offensive outburst. It would get no better for the Trojans as Limestone flexed their muscles to score seven more unanswered goals to take a 15-0 lead into the half.

Held without a goal, Mount Olive recorded just five shots, all by different players, and Michelle Fortier, Maddy Biggar and Holly Meyer each had two draw controls. Hannah Knight went the whole way in goal and allowed all 21 shots while making nine saves. She also had three groundballs and drops to 3-1 on the season.

Limestone returns to action on Tuesday, March 4 when they host Lees-McRae. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Upper Practice Field.
