Phelan Scores Three as Shepherd Outguns Chestnut Hill

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- Sophomore midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) had three goals and an assist to lead Shepherd to a 14-11 win over Chestnut Hill in lacrosse action on Saturday.

Junior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and sophomore attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn) each had two goals and an assist, while freshman attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) recorded a pair of goals.

Senior midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, Md./Westminster, senior attacker Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), sophomore midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding), freshman attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore), and freshman midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) each had single goals for the Rams. Lang and Hunley also each added an assist.

Alicia Herbert scored four goals and Jacklyn O'Leary added three to lead the Griffins. Junior netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) recorded six saves for the Rams, while Katie Jo Lang had nine saves for the Griffins.

Shepherd had an 8-6 lead at halftime. Shepherd held a 26-35 edge in shots and an 16-11 advantage in draw controls. Chestnut Hill had a 13-10 edge in ground balls.

The Rams were successful on 14 of 21 clears, while the Griffins converted on 16 of 16.

Shepherd improves to 3-0, while Chestnut Hill falls to 0-2. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
