Lady Knights Win High-Scoring OT Shootout vs. Siena Heights

Laurinburg, NC- St. Andrews erupted for 20 goals on Sunday, and that was barely enough as they were forced to play a man down the whole game. However, they were still able to top Siena Heights in overtime to win 20-19 over the Saints from Michigan.

Senior attacker Jackie Jones (SR, Springfield, VA) scored the game winner for SAU as they took the 20-19 lead and then had to run the rest of the clock down to win. Junior midfielder Risa Wautel (JR, Baltimore, MD) also scored in the overtime as St. Andrews won the period 2-1.

Even though St. Andrews was forced to play a man down the whole game due to injuries to defenders, they still managed to take various leads throughout as the game as it was tied at 8 at halftime. The teams would then change leads numerous times the rest of the game with SHU getting the biggest advantage at 16-11 with 15 minutes to go. But SAU wouldn't quit as they managed to outscore them 7-2 the rest of the way to send it to OT tied at 18.

Senior midfielder Catherine Lovallo (SR, Old Bridge, NJ) led the team again with 8 goals in the game and 14 altogether on the weekend as she now has 22 on the year. The eight goals in one game was a career high for the senior as well. Lovallo also had 9 draw control wins, 2 caused turnovers and 2 ground balls.

Jones also had a good day scoring 5 goals and assisting on 3 while also winning 8 draw controls and forcing three Saint turnovers. Also scoring on the day was Risa Wautel (JR, Baltimore, MD) with 3, sophomore Anastasia Schultz (SO, Atlanta, GA) with two and freshman Hunter Harrison (FR, Grantville, GA) with two. Leading the way in ground balls collected were senior Shiloh Kozlowski (SR, Trenton, MI) with 7 and freshman defender Joelle-Sara Prata (FR, New Bedford, MA) with 6.

With the NWLL win, St. Andrews improves to 2-3 on the year (1-2 AAC) while SHU falls to 0-1. SAU will next be in action March 1,0 when they travel to face conference rival Reinhardt (4-2) in Georgia at 3:00 pm for their big rematch.
