Adams State Grounds the Lady Hawsks

Alamosa, Colo.--In the first game of a two game trip to Colorado the women's lacrosse came up just short against Adams State, 11-9. The loss moves the Lady Hawks to 3-4 on the season.

The Grizzlies got on the board first scoring twice in the first minute of the game; Shorter answered as Aiste Pranciliauskaite netted back-to-back goals to tie the game, 2-2.

Adams State regained the lead with 19:31 to play, but the Lady Hawks came back and took their first lead of the game as Crystal Marshall and Shelby Beverly found the back of the net. Four minutes later, the Grizzlies once again tied things up, but Pranciliauskaite netted her third goal of the period to give Shorter the lead, 5-4, at the intermission.

As the second frame opened, Adams State wasted no time tying the game; scoring once before a minute ticked off the clock. The teams traded the lead throughout the period, but the Grizzlies went on 4-1 run during the final ten minutes to take the lead for good and earn the win, 11-9.

Praciliauskaite led the Lady Hawks with three goals; while Rachel Skinner, Katie Ott, Kari Chambers, Mia Wiggins, Beverly and Marshall each recorded one goal each.

Taylor Moody played the complete game for Shorter, making three saves on 16 shots faced. Danica Kristiansen made seven saves on 14 shots in 60:00 for Adams State.

The Grizzlies held the advantage both, draw controls (12-7) and ground balls (24-13).

The Lady Hawks will conclude their trip to Colorado with a game against Fort Lewis College on Wednesday, March 5; game time is set for 5:00 pm EST.
