Nine Score as UNE Sails Past Southern Maine

The Huskies hung with the Nor'easters for one period trailing 5-3 after 15 minutes. Bruno, Gross and Kleinhempel scored in the opening 10 minutes to stake the home side to the early lead. Jamison put the Huskies on the board with a man-up goal, set up by freshman Keegan Smith (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area), with 4:08 to go. The teams traded a pair of goals apiece to make it 5-3. Watts had both USM goals.

UNE took command in the second quarter outscoring USM 5-0 to increase its margin to 10-3 at halftime. Five different players found the net for UNE.

Wing scored a man-up goal for USM midway into the third period to make it 10-4, but that would be the Huskies final tally. The Nor'easters tacked on three more goals before the third quarter ended, and had the lone goal in the final quarter.
