Lyons Helps Delaware Breeze Past La Salle

NEWARK, Del. Sophomore Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada) posted a season-best seven points Wednesday evening as University of Delaware set a Delaware Stadium record en route to an 18-7 victory over La Salle University.

The Blue Hens tallied a season-high 18 goals, which bested the stadium record of 17 previously set by Delaware against Saint Mary's College on March 29, 2011 and by Maryland against UD on February 16, 2011.

UD, which held just a 6-5 advantage at halftime, exploded for 12 goals in the second half to match another stadium record. Maryland posted 12 goals in the first half against the Blue Hens in the 2011 meeting.

Lyons' seven points also tied a Delaware Stadium record, which was set on March 27, 2013 by Temple's Stephany Parcell, who tallied four goals and three assists. The midfielder added two groundballs for the Blue Hens.

Senior Chelsea Fay (West Chester, Pa.) and junior Caitlin McCartney (Doylestown, Pa.) each added hat tricks with three goals while Fay dished out an assist on the night.

Senior Tori Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) came off the bench to tally five saves while allowing just four goals in 57 minutes of play to earn her first win of the season.

Gabby Antonelli received the loss for the Explorers despite making five saves.

With the win, Delaware moves to 2-3 on the year while La Salle falls to 3-2 on the season.
