Brockport Uses Six-Goal Run to Down St. Lawrence

Junior Liz Algie (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) scored a pair of goals to cap a six-goal run for Brockport Friday afternoon, and the Golden Eagles went on to post a 14-6 victory in the first home game of the season at Bob Boozer at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.

Brockport (3-1) opened the game scoring four of the first five goals for the early lead. Freshman Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) scored three times in the early run and Brockport had a 4-1 lead less than 10 minutes into the contest.

The teams traded goals over the next 12 minutes before Alyssa Scordo (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) scored with 6:32 remaining in the first half to spark the six-goal run. Senior Emily Zartman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) scored before the end of the half to give Brockport the 9-4 at the intermission.

Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored to open the second half before Algie scored twice in a span of two minutes and Katie Curran (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) capped the run to extend the Brockport lead to 13-4.

St. Lawrence (0-1) scored twice through the middle of the half but the Brockport defense limited the Saints to six shots for the entire half and Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) added a late goal for Brockport for the final 14-6 Golden Eagles victory.

St. Lawrence managed just 12 shots in the game while Brockport, ranked #16 in the latest national poll, fired 35 shots.

Wall led the Brockport offense with four goals and one assist, Algie added three goals and an assist while Schuber chipped in two goals and an assist for Brockport. McKeon, Zartman, Curran, Scordo and Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) all scored once for Brockport.

Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) made five saves for Brockport.
