VanDaniker, Lyons Guide Delaware to Win Against Villanova

NEWARK, Del. Sophomores Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada) and Lauren VanDaniker (Perry Hall, Md.) combined for 11 points as Delaware came back from a halftime deficit to defeat Villanova, 11-8, Saturday afternoon at Delaware Stadium.

The duo, which teamed up to score seven goals and four assists, also paired on three separate occasions with VanDaniker earning an assist on three of Lyons' five goals.

With her five goals, Lyons tallied her third hat trick of the season and second consecutive game with five scores.

Villanova (3-2) held a 5-4 halftime lead and the two teams exchanged goals to open the second half before Delaware (3-3) scored five of the next six goals en route to victory.

Senior Chelsea Fay (West Chester, Pa.) also posted a multiple-goal day with two of her own. Fellow senior Abbie Hartman (Hatfield, Pa.) and junior Caitlin McCartney (Doylestown, Pa.) each recorded two points on one goal and one assist for the Hens.

Senior Tori Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned her first start of the season and collected five saves to earn the victory.

Meghan Breen led the Wildcats with four points off three goals and one assist while Kelsey Denihan also registered a hat trick with three goals. Jaclyn Fraum tallied nine saves in the loss.
