Syracuse Alum, FH Central Asst. Coach Randy Lundblad Dies

Randal (Randy) Lundblad, 51, died this past Tuesday, March 4 after a bout with cancer. Lundblad was an assistant lacrosse coach at Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and worked for the Steelcase Corp.

Lundblad was a graduate of West Genesee High School in Camillus, New York and played in college at Syracuse, where he graduated in 1983. He is perhaps best known for scoring what was later the game-winning goal in Syracuse's famous "back from the dead" comeback against Johns Hopkins in the 1983 National Championship game at Rutgers, which many deem one of the most exciting lacrosse games of all time.

As an assistant coach at Forest Hills Central, he twice helped guide the team to state championships. He continued working with the team even while undergoing chemotherapy, rarely missing a practice or game.
