No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic Tops Stonehill in Sailfish Shootout

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. In their second game in as many days, No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic topped Stonehill (Mass.) on Sunday with a 19-11 win. Jacksonville University transfer John Linnan (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led the Sailfish with five goals and three assists.

The game began with even lacrosse throughout the majority of the first quarter and a 4-4 tie before two late goals gave the Sailfish a 6-4 lead going into the second. PBA midfielder Dan Wilkerson (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) had three points in the first half and finished with four overall.

Over the next fifteen minutes, the momentum swung in Palm Beach Atlantic's favor, outscoring the Skyhawks 6-1 going into the half. The quarter started on two goals from Alex Raucci (Palm Harbor, Fla./St. Leo University), who registered two goals and two assists on the afternoon. Nick Scalzo (Webster, N.Y./Jacksonville Univ.) contributed two of six goals in the second, despite experiencing a shut-off throughout most of the game.

Upon racing out to a 15-6 lead in the third quarter, the Sailfish and Skyhawks battled the rest of the way, with each team scoring goals evenly leading to the 19-11 final score. Both Cory Ender (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Springfield College) and Drake Kessell (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) finished with a 63% save percentage.
