Stockton Topples Centenary Despite 24 Cyclone Saves

GALLOWAY, N.J. - Centenary goalkeepers combined to make 24 saves, but it was not enough, as the Cyclones were defeated by Richard Stockton, 14-2. on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Alex Malecki (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) made 17 stops during the first 30 minutes, while classmate Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) blocked seven second-half shots.

The Ospreys built a 3-0 lead after one quarter and tacked on six more goals during the second quarter to take control of the game.

Sophomore Conor Martin (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and senior Steve Orsini (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) scored back-to-back goals 20 seconds apart during the final 1:18 to help Centenary avoid being shut out.

Junior Joshua Caven (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) won 4 of 8 face offs and grabbed two ground balls, while juniors Kyle Peters (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and Nick Perkalis (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) both scooped up three ground balls for the Cyclones.

Three Ospreys recorded hat tricks, including Nick Bologno, who also dished out three assists. Stockton outshot Centenary 53-21 and goalkeeper Eric Leonard made nine saves.

Centenary looks to get back on the winning track on Saturday when it visits Mount Saint Mary at 1:00 pm.
