No. 7 College of New Jersey Runs by Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. Senior Casandra Honovich (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) scored the 214th goal of her career to become Manhattanville's all-time leading goal scorer in the women's lacrosse team's 18-1 loss to IWLCA #7 College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon at Field.

The lone highlight of the game came early on for Manhattanville (0-5), as Honovich sliced through the TCNJ defense to score her 12th goal of the season and 214th of her stellar career just 2:06 into the contest, breaking a tie with Katie Frattarola '02 for sole possession of first place in school history.

After that goal, however, it was all TCNJ (4-0), as the Lions registered 18 straight tallies to pull out the victory. Jen Garavente led the Lions with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists, followed by Kendal Borup with four goals and two helpers. Erin Waller had three goals and assist as well for the visitors.

TCNJ posted a 33-3 edge in shots on the afternoon, with junior Kirsten Shaughnessy (Le Center, Minn./LeSueur-Henderson St. Peter) and sophomore Caitlin Sosa (New York, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) combining for six saves for the Valiants. Shaughnessy suffered the loss, making three saves on 17 shots over the first 30 minutes. Sosa made three saves on seven shots over the final 30 minutes.

Manhattanville returns to action on Thursday night, as the Valiants travel to Mount St. Mary for a non-conference match-up beginning at 7:00 p.m.
