Shepherd Edged by Lenoir-Rhyne

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Bailey Leonard scored on an assist from Lauren Donovan with 4:08 remaining in regulation to lift Lenoir-Rhyne to a 12-11 win over Shepherd in lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Junior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) led Shepherd with four goals and an assist.

Sophomore attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn) added two goals and a pair of assists, while senior midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, Md./Westminster) and sophomore midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) each tallied a pair of goals. Junior attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) added a goal.

Donovan had four goals and two assists to lead the Bears. Hayley Beattie added three goals and an assist.

Shepherd had a 7-5 lead at halftime.

Junior netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) recorded eight saves for the Rams, while Ashley Gruning had six saves for the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne held a 33-25 edge in shots while Shepherd had a 14-11 advantage in draw controls. The Bears had a 32-28 edge in ground balls.

Shepherd falls to 5-2, while Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 5-2. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Seton Hill for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
