Fifth-Ranked Le Moyne Downs Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. Senior midfielder Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) scored a career high-tying five goals to lead fifth-ranked Le Moyne to a 20-8 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Monday afternoon at the RWC Lacrosse Field.

The Dolphins scored the game's first seven goals over the opening 12:12. Nies got the Dolphins on the scoreboard 3:25 into the game after taking a pass from junior attacker Catie McKay (Penfield, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy). Senior attacker Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded an unassisted goal with 24:25 left, while graduate student attacker Marley Ciferri (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca/Syracuse) netted a free-position goal 35 seconds later.

Junior midfielder Anna Daucher (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored off a free-position shot with 22:50 remaining. Sophomore attacker Mary Fadden (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) put the Dolphins up by five with 21:02 remaining with her first goal of the day. Sophomore attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) finished off a feed from sister Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) with 18:18 left, while Ciferri found the back of the net 30 seconds later.

Roberts Wesleyan broke through with 16:52 left on Cassley Jackowski's first of four goals in the game.

McKay pushed Le Moyne's lead to 9-1 by scoring twice in a span of 1:49. She scored her first off a feed from Ciferri, while the second was unassisted with 13:48 left.

The Redhawks scored the game's next three goals over a span of 4:40. Ali Fox scored with 13:36 left off a pass from Jackowski, who then tallied an unassisted goal with 9:11 remaining. Just 15 seconds later, Alison Kendall pulled the Redhawks within 9-4. The Monnats scored 66 seconds apart to close out the first half's scoring. Maggie recorded an unassisted goal with 7:18, while Claire followed with an unassisted marker of her own.

As they did in the first half, the Dolphins scored the first six goals of the second half. Nies netted the first three over a span of 3:47. The first two, which came 25 seconds apart, were assisted by Ciferri, while the third came on a free-position shot. Conese then tallied an unassisted goal with 23:36 left, while Fadden finished off a feed from junior attacker Sam Yaro (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) with 22:13 remaining. Claire Monnat capped the run with a free-position goal in an extra-man situation with 19:03 left.

Roberts Wesleyan snapped its scoreless drought of 22 minutes on Jackowski's third goal with 16:56 remaining, while Loren Dunn followed with an extra-man goal 98 seconds later.

Le Moyne took its largest lead of the game by scoring three times in 88 seconds. Conese scored the first with 14:31 remaining, while Nies found the back of the net just 12 seconds later off a pass from McKay, who ended the spurt with 13:03 to play after taking a feed from Conese.

Jackowski had a hand in the final two goals of the game. She scored with 8:04 left, while feeding Fox for the game's last goal with 5:02 remaining.

Freshman goalkeeper Christina Humbert (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) earned her fourth victory between the pipes by making seven saves. Victoria Link made 10 saves in the loss for the Redhawks.

Le Moyne (4-1), which finished its non-conference slate with a 3-1 record, returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday against Merrimack College at 11:00 a.m.
