No. 16 Hamilton Tops Babson in Florida Game

Hamilton opened its spring trip with a 15-7 win over Babson Tuesday at Clermont, Fla. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Continentals (ranked 16th), who are now 2-2. The Beavers fall to 0-5.

Hamilton scored the game's first four goals and held leads of 7-2 and 9-3. Nora Klemmer '17 scored the first two goals of her career and Morgan Fletcher '17 collected her first collegiate goal as well.

Margaret Gabriel '16 scored two of her game-high three goals in Hamilton's opening 4-0 run. Taylor Ryan scored off the opening draw and Katie D'Antonio '14, who also finished with three goals, followed two minutes later.

Emily Brodsky '14 collected a goal and an assist for Hamilton, giving her a team-leading 11 points on the season and 52 in her career. Casey File '17 added career-best totals of two goals and three points.

The Beavers who were held to a pair of free position goals by Misha Beatty '14 over the game's first 23:32 scored three of the first five goals in the second period to pull to within 11-6. Rachel Secrist '15 scored two of Babson's goals in that stretch before D'Antonio and Klemmer responded with goals to put the Continentals up 13-6.

Beatty led all player with five points on three goals and two assists. Secrist finished with two goals.

Lauren Brady '14 led Hamilton with career-best totals of five draw controls and three ground balls. Ryan, Alice Grant '14 and Hannah Withiam '16 picked up two ground balls each. Gabriel and File both had three draw controls.

Kari Koga '15 made her first start of the season in goal and earned the win with four saves. Julie Baharestini '14 made 11 saves for Babson.

The Continentals face eighth-ranked Amherst in a NESCAC game Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Clermont. Babson wraps up its spring trip against William Smith Thursday morning.
