Mount Saint Vincent Wins in Double Overtime at Mitchell

New London, Conn. Senior Adrian Go (Fair Lawn, N.J.) scored his third goal of the season with just over two minutes left in the second overtime period to push Mount Saint Vincent past Mitchell by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was tightly contested throughout with the first goal coming in the closing seconds of the first quarter. With 13 ticks left in the opening stanza, Michael Puchalski (Yorktown, N.Y.) gave the Mount a 1-0 lead when he potted his team leading 13th goal of the season off a feed from Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.).

After the two teams combined for just one goal and 10 shots in the first 15 minutes, Mitchell outscored the Mount 3-2 in the second period to send the two teams into halftime tied at 3-3. David Klapp scored twice in the quarter for Mitchell and McEnaney netted both of the Mount's goals. Senior John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up one of his two assists in the game on the first McEnaney goal in the second.

Sophomore Mike McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) got the Mount back in front 4-3 with the only goal in the third quarter, scoring his first goal of the season with 1:45 left in the period. The one goal lead for the Dolphins would stand until the final 1:07 of regulation when Klapp scored his third goal of the game to send the game into extra time.

After playing a scoreless first overtime period, Mount Saint Vincent got the game winner from Go with the man advantage with 2:19 left in the period. He finished off a feed from Pat McEnaney to give the Dolphins their second man-up goal of the game and to give Go his first game winning goal of the season.

Pat McEnaney led the Dolphins in the game with four points on the strength of two goals and two assists. He added two groundballs for the Dolphins in the win. Petito picked up two groundballs and caused two turnovers to go along with his two assists. Junior Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) scooped four groundballs for the Dolphins in the game and Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) won four face-offs and collected three groundballs.

Klapp paced Mitchell with three goals and three groundballs, while Demetre Lyras added a goal and an assist. Lyras also won nine of the team's 10 face-offs in the game and totaled three groundballs. Maxx Crowley closed a strong game with four caused turnovers and six groundballs for the Mariners.

Senior Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal for the Mount with five saves and added a team-high five groundballs. J.D. LeMay stopped 15 shots for Mitchell in the game, taking the loss.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the game with a 46-18 advantage in shots and a 20-9 edge in shots on goal. The Dolphins also posted a 29-26 advantage in groundballs, while the Mariners won 10 of the 14 face-offs contested. Mount Saint Vincent scored the only two goals of the game with man advantage, going 2 for 6 in the game.

Wednesday's win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 4-1 overall on the season and to 2-0 in overtime decisions. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they open Skyline Conference play against Mount Saint Mary. Face-off with the Knights is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
