St. Andrews Edges Citadel in Divisional Game

Charleston, SC- The St. Andrews University men's lacrosse team won their first division game on Wednesday evening topping The Citadel, 10-8.

The win moves SAU into second place in the division at 1-1 and 3-5 overall. The top two finishers in the 5 team division will qualify for the 8 team conference tournament in April. The Citadel falls to 3-5 overall and 0-1.

St. Andrews only managed to score one goal apiece in the first and fourth quarters. However, their offense exploded during the middle two quarters scoring 4 goals in each as they hung on for the 10-8 victory.

Sophomore Bryson Palmer (SO/Simpsonville, SC) led St. Andrews with 3 goals and 2 assists for a team-leading 5 points while attackers Jason Wilson (SO/Hershey, PA) and Connor Cather (SO/Poulsbo, WA) also scored two goals apiece. Also scoring on the day was Nolan Gilmour (SO/Portland, OR) with a goal and an assist, senior midfielder Chris Michela (SR/Vienna, VA) with a goal and finally sophomore Cha'Sed Miller (SO/Lexington, KY) adding one to the total.

Michela now leads the team with 17 goals and 9 assists for 26 points.

Goalie Will Chiasson (JR/Victoria, BC, Canada) also played well making 14 saves on 22 shots for a .64 save percentage.

The Knights will next return home to host conference foe Reinhardt University (7-2) on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
