Mitchell College Names Tom Hinsch Associate Head Coach

NEW LONDON, Conn. Mitchell College has named Tom Hinsch as associate head coach of the women's lacrosse program, as announced by Director of Athletics Maureen White on Thursday.

Hinsch will join head coach John Keysor for Mitchell's debut season in women's lacrosse. The program competed on the club level during its inaugural season in 2013 and was elevated to varsity status for the 2014 season. The Mariners will play their first game at home against Bay Path College on Friday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m.

"We are thrilled to add Tom to our coaching staff," said White. "We were very lucky to find someone of Tom's caliber in southeastern Connecticut. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge about the women's game, and we envision both John and Tom growing formidable lacrosse programs here at Mitchell College."

Hinsch is highly active in girls' lacrosse, serving as head coach for the New England Brine All-American Team. He also spent the 2010 season coaching the girls' varsity and junior varsity teams at Mercy High School in Middletown, Conn., and he is the founder and director of the Connecticut Lazers Lacrosse Club. He has recruited and coached several All-American athletes who have had promising collegiate careers.

"I'm very excited to be able to build a program from the ground up and really put my mark on the program," said Hinsch. "It's a great opportunity for me as a coach, as well as for women's lacrosse players in the region."

Hinsch graduated from Plymouth State with a degree in physical education and received a master's degree in education from Southern Connecticut State University. He currently resides in Lebanon, Conn.
