Philadelphia Storms by Nyack in CACC Play

PHILADELPHIA Ten Rams found themselves in the goal column as Philadelphia defeated visiting Nyack 23-4 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Philadelphia picked up its sixth consecutive win and improves to 6-1 overall, 4-0 in CACC play. Nyack is now 0-7 overall, 0-5 against the CACC.

Grad student midfielder Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown E.), senior midfielder Libby Nichols (Ellicott City, Md./McDonogh), and sophomore attack Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) all led the Rams-who scored the first 13 goals of the match-with five points each.

Blye scored a game- and career-high five goals, while Nichols had three goals and two assists. Mower contributed two goals, three assists, and five draw controls.

Senior attack Emily Ray (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) and junior attack Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) both recorded a hat-trick. Junior attack Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) added two goals and one assist.

Senior attack Rebecca Baker (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) notched her first two goals of the season in the opening half and senior midfielder Cari DiCioccio (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington) had a second half goal.

Freshman attack Taylor Bisceglia (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) scored her first collegiate goal with 15 seconds left in the contest.

Junior goalkeeper Kristen Moran (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) earned the victory (6-1) with three saves on five shots on goal in the first half. Freshman Maria Matteis (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) played the second half and stopped four of the six shots on goal she faced.

Lauren Lebo paced Nyack with three goals, one assist, eight draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Victoria Lopez-Nash tallied the Warriors' final goal with 6:26 to play.

Jacqueline Simon posted 12 saves in a losing effort (0-7).

Philadelphia outshot Nyack 46-18. The Rams also owned a 25-10 turnover advantage and a 30-17 ground ball edge.

The Rams head to Holy Family for a CACC showdown on Thursday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m.
