Stockton Pulls Away from Arcadia for Victory

(Galloway, PA) Richard Stockton (7-2) scored the first three goals of the second half to break open a tight game, and the Ospreys pulled away for a 12-3 victory over Arcadia (3-3). Stockton outscored the Knights 9-1 in the second half and rolled to their fourth straight win. Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) paced the Ospreys with four goals and two assists followed by Tyler Van Benschoten with two goals and one assist.

The teams played over nine scoreless minutes before Van Benschoten scored the only goal of the first quarter to give Stockton a 1-0 lead. Arcadia sandwiched two tallies around a Stockton goal by Max Becker (Oak Ridge/Jefferson) for a 2-2 tie before Bologno struck for the Ospreys with 2:55 left in the first half for a marker that resulted in a 3-2 Stockton lead at the break.

The Ospreys seized control of the game in the third quarter as Bologno, Van Benschoten and Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) all potted goals in a span of 2:05 to put Stockton ahead 6-2. The Ospreys led 6-3 after three quarters and sealed the outcome with six tallies in the fourth quarter. Bologno and Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) each scored twice in the final period while Becker and James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) netted one counter apiece.

Stockton goalkeeper Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) earned the victory with 10 saves. Dan Lamela (Brick/Brick Memorial) contributed defensively with a team-high four caused turnovers followed by Alex DiClemente (Wyckoff/Ramapo) with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Arcadia goalie Jordan Culichia kept the Knights in the game for most of the contest with 20 saves on 30 shots on goal against for a .667 save percentage in 54:12 played. Joe Stanton notched a goal and an assist for the Arcadia offense.

Stockton will hit the road on Wednesday for a game at DeSales at 4:00 pm.
