Berry Comes up Just Short at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Berry had a big second half rally, but lost at Birmingham-Southern, 14-11, on Saturday. BC dropped to 5-3 and 3-1 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Panthers improved to 5-4, 3-2.

Kristan Dziurzynski paced the visitors with four goals and two assists. Teammate Sara Witten tallied three times and had one helper. Freshman Savannah McKenzie added two goals for the Vikings.

B-SC held a lead of 8-3 at haltime. The Vikings, however, outscored the Panthers 8-3 in the second half to knot the match at 11-11 after a Dziursunki goal with 9:03 left.

The Panthers scored three times the last 5:58 for the final margin.

Taylor Martin had 15 saves in the defeat for Berry. B-SC led in shots (33-24), draw controls (17-9) and ground balls (20-14).

Amanda Amerson and Madeline Golden both recorded five goals for B-SC.

The Vikings play at Piedmont College on Wednesday.
