Lady Knights Oust Lagrange for Third Win

Laurinburg, NC - St. Andrews achieved its third win of the season on Monday afternoon, as they outscored non-conference foe LaGrange 17-11 to pick up the win.

The Knights got off to a quick 3-1 lead in the first few minutes before the Panthers called a timeout and then came back to take their only lead of the day at 4-3. St. Andrews would not quit however as they charged back to take a two goal lead at halftime 8-6.

After the Div. III Lady Panthers cut it to one early in the second, St. Andrews went on a 6-0 run as they stretched their lead to 14-7. LC would then fight back and go on a 4-1 run themselves to make it 15-11 with 8 minutes to go. However, SAU's defense would sharpen up and hold them scoreless for the rest of the game to grab the win.

St. Andrews was led by attacker Jackie Jones (SR/Springfield, VA)' 7 goals and 1 assist while midfielder Catherine Lovallo (SR/Old Bridge, NJ) scored 6 with one assist while winning five draws and forcing three LaGrange turnovers. Also scoring her first career goal was defender Gisselle Little (SO/Round Rock, TX) on a free position shot late in the second half while attacker Shiloh Kozlowski (SR/Trenton, MI) scored two goals along with one assist as well as collecting 3 ground balls and winning 2 draws as she had a good all-around game.

Midfielder Risa Wautel (JR/Baltimore, MD) scored a goal and also won 3 draws while goalie Blake Forkner (JR/Savannah, GA) played well in goal making 10 saves on 21 shots to help keep the Knights in it.

St. Andrews improves to 3-7 on the year while LaGrange falls to 3-9. The Lady Knights will finish out their regular season schedule with a home date vs. #1 ranked SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) on Saturday at 2:30 pm. St. Andrews will then play in the conference tournament first round on Friday April 11.
