Last-Minute Goal Carries Reinhardt by St. Andrews

Laurinburg, NC- A last minute goal by Reinhardt (Ga.) sent St. Andrews to their 6th loss of the season on Saturday as they fell 12-11 to the conference foe.

St. Andrews started off strong as they got out to a 2-0 lead early and then led 4-2 after the first quarter. However, RU would come right back to score 5 goals in the second quarter outscoring the Knights 5-1 to take a 7-5 halftime lead. SAU would then step up their defense in the third quarter as they held the Eagles scoreless by shutting them out 4-0 to take a 9-7 lead heading into the fourth.

Unfortunately, an illegal stick penalty called on the Knights forced SAU to play a man down for three minutes. This proved to be the difference in the game as Reinhardt took major advantage as they ended up scoring 3 goals to take a 10-9 lead with 12 minutes to go.

The teams would then trade goals until it was tied at 11 with a minute to go. St. Andrews had possession but turned it over leading to a fast break goal by RU to put it away. A last second shot by Nolan Gilmour (SO/Portland, OR) bounced off the goalie's chest giving the Eagles the non-division win.

St. Andrews falls to 3-6 with the loss but are still in second place in their division with 2 more division games remaining. RU improves to 8-2 on the season.

The Knights were led by 4 goals and an assist apiece from Cha'Sed Miller (SO/Lexington, KY) and Connor Cather (SO/Poulsbo, WA) and 2 goals and 3 assists from senior Chris Michela (SR/Vienna, VA). Miller also led with 5 ground balls while Kekoa Naipo (SO/Windsor, CO) and Vinny D'Abbraccio (SO/Plantation, FL) had 4 apiece. Miller is now second on the team with 16 goals while Michela leads with 19.

St. Andrews will next play AAC opponent Point University (1-8) in Georgia on Thursday at 2:00 pm in their final road game of the season.
