Lourdes Drops 18-9 Decision at Lawrence Tech

Lourdes continued its eight-game road trip on Tuesday afternoon, falling 18-9 to Lawrence Tech at The Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich. in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.

The Blue Devils opened the game scoring the first eight goals of the contest before Allison Mazey (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) put Lourdes on the scoreboard at the 17:25 mark of the first half. Faith Fisher (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) and Jessie Frost (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) each added first half tallies as well, but the Gray Wolves trailed 14-3 at intermission.

Trailing 15-3 with just over 24 minutes left in the contest, Lourdes scored six of the final nine goals. Fisher ended the contest with three goals and an assist on the afternoon while Frost and Mazey each tallied two goals. Molly Porterfield (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) and Katie Cerveny (Erie, Mich./Mason Senior H.S.) added goals as well for the Gray Wolves.

Lawrence Tech (3-5, 1-4 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 38-26 on the afternoon, including a 31-20 edge on goal. Amanda Kaczmarek (Berkey, Ohio/Evergreen H.S.) made 13 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Alyse Finley made 11 stops in the victory for the Blue Devils.

Alyssa Shaver scored seven times and added an assist to pace Lawrence Tech.

Lourdes (1-9, 0-5) will close out their eight-game road trip on Thursday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face second-ranked Davenport. The opening draw is slated for 7:00 p.m.
