Ospreys Defeat DeSales to Win Fifth Straight

(Allentown, PA) Richard Stockton (8-2) dominated the first half and snuffed out a late rally by winless DeSales (0-7) for an 11-8 victory that was the fifth straight win for the Ospreys.

The five-game winning streak is Stockton's longest since they won the first six games of the 2005 season. Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) led the offense with four goals and Drew Wright (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) chipped in with two goals and an assist.

Wright netted his first marker just 36 seconds into the game, igniting a seven-goal barrage in the first 23 minutes. Manasia added three goals and Cal Sebor (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) scored twice before Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) capped the run with the first of his two tallies for a commanding 7-0 lead. DeSales got on the board with a pair of counters in the last five minutes of the half for a 7-2 score at intermission.

The teams potted three goals apiece in the third quarter, with Loggi, Manasia and Wright hitting the net for Stockton. The Ospreys led 10-5 after three periods and extended to 11-5 when Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) scored with 5:33 to play. DeSales threw in three quick goals in a span of 58 seconds to pull within 11-8 with 3:36 remaining but the Stockton defense clamped down from there and kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard the rest of the way to preserve the Ospreys' fifth consecutive win.

Stockton goalkeeper Eric Leonard (Mt. Laure/Lenape) earned the victory with nine saves, six of which came in the second half. Erik Beck (Marlton/Cherokee) paced the defense with team highs of six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Stockton will begin Skyline Conference play with a home game against Mount St. Vincent on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
