Yellow Jackets Add to Winning Streak with Win vs. Hilbert

BEREA, OHIO - Junior attack Victoria Budzyn (Eastern Aurora, N.Y.) scored a career-high four goals and one assist as Baldwin Wallace defeated Hilbert (N.Y.) 19-4 in a non-conference game. The victory was the school-record setting sixth straight.

In addition to Budzyn for BW (7-2), freshman midfield Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) and senior attack Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y.) each tallied three goals and two assists. Freshman attack Sierra Thomas (Medina) contributed three goals. Juniors Cara Wood (Shaker Heights/Laurel) and Becky Russell (Glenshaw, Pa. /Shaler Area) each had two goals freshman midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) added one goal and a game-high three assists.

Hilbert (1-5) was led by Nikki Schneider and Megan Smith with two goals goal each.

The Yellow Jackets held the Hawks scoreless in the first half as they lead 15-0 at the intermission. It marked the first time in program history that BW has held an opponent scoreless in any half. The Yellow Jackets got three goals apiece from Bodkin, Budzyn, Russell and Thomas in the first half.

After BW scored its 18 consecutive goal, the Hawks scored four unanswered goals from Schneider and Smith with the last coming from Smith at the 3:00 mark. BW answered back with the final goal of the game by senior attack Carmen Rush (Bay Village) at the 39 second mark.

In goal, senior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) played 30 minutes in the first half and did not face a shot as she improved to 7-2 overall. Freshman Gabrielle Nondorf (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) played 30 minutes in the second half and allowed four goals with no saves.

BW next travels to Olivet, Michigan to play a non-conference game at Olivet College on Sunday, March 30 at 12:00 p.m.
