No. 1 RIT Gets by Williams to Remain Undefeated

BALTIMORE, MD -- No. 1 RIT (9-0) wrapped up its spring break trip to Baltimore with a 15-10 win over Williams (5-3) 15-10 in non-conference action from legendary Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins Friday evening.

Casy Jackson led RIT with five goals, while Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) tallied five points on three goals and two assists. Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) scored three goals and dished out an assist, while Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had two goals and two assists.

RIT held a 51-39 shot advantage, and won the ground ball battle 36-27. The Tigers won 14 of 26 face-offs and were 21 of 24 on clearing attempts. The Tigers went 1 for 3 on man-up chances and held the Ephs to one goal on three man-up tries.

Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry) had three caused turnovers and seven ground balls, while Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) won 14 of 24 face-offs and had eight ground balls. In all, the Tigers caused eight Williams turnovers. Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) picked up his third win of the season, making 15 saves.

The Ephs jumped on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead with 9:09 to play in the first quarter on eric Kelley's fourth goal of the season.

The Tigers answered back with two straight goals from Warren and Kiesa, giving RIT a 2-1 lead midway through the opening quarter.

Peter Crane tied the score at 2-2 for Williams on his first goal of the season with 6:29 to play in the first.

RIT closed out the quarter with consecutive goals from Aquin and Jackson giving the Tigers a 4-2 lead after one quarter.

The Tigers kept the offensive pressure to open the second quarter, scoring five straight goals to open up a 9-2 lead. Jackson scored two of RIT's five goals in the run, while Cory Ashmore (Sutton, Ontario/Sutton District), Aquin and Warren also tallied for the Tigers.

Conor Roddy scored with :01 to play in the half, cutting RIT's lead to 9-3 at the break.

Warren and Kiesa opened the third-quarter scoring for RIT, giving the Tigers an 11-3 lead early in the third quarter. Warren scored off an assist from Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy) who finished with a goal and four assists.

After Jackson gave RIT a 12-4 lead off an amazing feed from Kiesa, the Ephs rattled off two straight goals, pulling to within 12-6 on a goal by Roddy with :58 to play in the third quarter.

The Ephs scored four times in the fourth quarter, while RIT had goals from Aquin, Jackson and Lee to make it a 15-10 final.

Roddy and Kelly led Williams with two goals apiece. Dan Whittam took the loss in net, making 12 saves.
