Mahdi Nets Five as Thiel Shuts Down Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Cassy Mahdi scored five goals as Thiel held Washington & Jefferson off the scoreboard for 57 minutes and defeated the Presidents 15-1 in action Saturday at Alexandre Stadium.

The Tomcats (4-5) had six different goal scorers and dished out eight assists on their 15 goals. Sharr Martin added three goals and three assists for Thiel which led 9-0 at halftime. The Tomcats outshot W&J by a 37-2 margin and claimed 14 of the game's 18 draw controls.

W&J (0-4) scored its lone goal with 2:15 remaining as Alex Dikos found the back of the net. Kelsey Roetenberg made 12 saves in the loss.

The Presidents are back in action next Saturday at Saint Vincent (2:00 pm).
