Pride Proves Too Much for Blazers

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood dropped a Commonwealth Conference contest to Widener 16-3.

Melissa Sailey started off the scoring for the Pride at 28:41 in the first half. Pinky Schneider scored two of her four goals at 27:01 and 24:40 to extend the Widener lead to 3-0. Mackenzie Lindquist scored three goals in the first half, and her third made it 9-0 with 13:58 remaining in the half.

Christina Murphy (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) got the Blazers on the board with a free position goal with 8:05 on the clock. After a Widener scored to make it 10-1, Ashley Kitzmiller (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) scored with just over two minutes remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 10-2. The Pride would score with 46 seconds until halftime to take an 11-2 advantage into the break.

Widener scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to open up a 14-2 lead. April Ganz (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) ended the run with an unassisted goal at 11:57.

Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) faced 35 shots and made 19 saves. She also recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers. The Pride's Megan Dunn made two saves on five shots.

Widener converted two free position shots out of six opportunities, while the Blazers were 1 for 1.

Hood travels to Lycoming on April 5 for the first of back-to-back road games.
