McDaniel Rallies from 6-Down to Edge Haverford

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel scored eight straight goals to turn a 7-1 deficit midway through the second quarter into a 9-7 lead late in the third quarter en route to a 13-11 Centennial Conference (CC) victory over Haverford on Saturday.

Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the Green Terror (4-6, 1-2 CC) with two goals and three assists. Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) each added hat tricks in the victory.

Brandon Boccallari led the Fords (1-8, 0-3 CC) with four goals and two assists.

Trailing 7-1 on a Boccallari goal with 7:35 to play, Bivons found Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) 56 seconds later to start the 8-0 run.

Brett returned the favor in a man-up situation with 4:33 on the clock before the same duo hooked up with four seconds on the clock to draw the hosts with 7-4 at the intermission.

Three straight Serio goals in a 1-minute, 24-second span knotted the game at 7-all with 8:30 showing in the third quarter.

Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) found Ryan Weiss (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) with 6:35 showing for an 8-7 lead - McDaniel's first advantage since 1-0.

A Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) solo run stretched the lead to 9-7 just 66 seconds later before Richard Greenberg broke an 18-minute, 5-second scoring drought to close the deficit to one.

Unassisted tallies from Brett and Weiss on either side of the quarter break pushed the lead to 11-8 before Bivons hit McNichol for a four-goal lead with 8:50 on the clock.

Goals from Boccallari and Chris Christiansen closed the deficit to 12-10 with 7:47 to play before McNichol and Jack Bodine traded goals 82 seconds apart for the final margin.

Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) found McNichol just 1:20 into the game before Haverford reeled off seven straight goals in a span of 16:20.

Boccallari and Tav Hafner scored 43 seconds apart to make it a 2-1 Ford lead before Bodine and Andrew Dalke had just nine seconds between goals for a 4-1 lead with 6:57 to play in the first quarter.

Boccallari and Christiansen pushed the lead to 6-1 before two minutes had elapsed in the second quarter.

Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) led the defense with five ground balls while Drew Cortese (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) had three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
