Maine Maritime Steams Past Lyndon State

CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime defeated Lyndon State 19-1 in a North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game Saturday. The Mariners improved to 2-0 NAC, 2-4, while the Hornets dropped to 0-2, 0-9.

Nicholas Betti, Nick Snelling, Bronson Guimond, Peter Moore and Cameron Wyman all recorded hat tricks for Maine Maritime. Brady Harrison, Justin Lovely, Tim Grant and Justin Hockney all scored once for the Mariners. Snelling dished out a game-best three assists, Guimond, Lovely, Moore and Grant each had two assists.

James Wilgus improved to 1-1 with seven saves in goal for the Mariners and Gavin Cote stopped three shots in relief.

Ryan McLellan, Ian Larcom and Same Bessey anchored the Maine Maritime defense with four caused turnovers and Jack Tragert went 18 of 20 from X.

Colin Young netted the Hornets lone score on an assist from Billy Bazyk. Marcus Bessette stopped 15 shots for LSC and Shane Morin recorded three saves.

The Mariners return to action Wednesday hosting Maine-Farmington at 6:00 p.m.
