No. 17 Endicott Storms Past Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. Sophomore Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine) scored four goals in Nichols College's 26-8 loss to Endicott College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

Senior Brian Girard (Norwood, Mass.) added a pair for the Bison, who slipped to 2-6 (0-1 CCC) on the season. Freshman Rob Belger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) started between the pipes and recorded 21 saves.

A total of 16 different student-athletes tallied at least one goal as the Gulls (7-2, 3-0 CCC) who entered the game ranked No. 17 in the NCAA rankings this week remained unbeaten all-time against Nichols. Sophomore Mitchell Tapley (Falmouth, Maine) potted four goals to lead Endicott while junior Kyle Weber (West Hartford, Conn.) added three goals. Junior Nick Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Kyle Wallack (Madison, Conn.) each dished out two assists.

The Gulls opened the game with 11 answered goals and led 14-2 at halftime. Weber scored three goals and both Pinciaro and Bannon scored twice in the opening 30 minutes while Verville and Sikich registered the Nichols goals. The visitors led 18-5 after three quarters of play before scoring eight more times in the fourth.

Senior Liam Sullivan (Mashpee, Mass.) and junior Sean Coates (Grafton, Mass.) each collected three ground balls for Nichols, which was outshot 68-25 and committed 28 turnovers. Freshman Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) won 18 of 21 draws (85.7 pct.) and gathered a game-high 15 ground balls for the Gulls. Sophomore Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) was one of five goalkeepers utilized by the Gulls and earned his seventh win of the season.

Nichols (2-6, 0-1 CCC) plays at Western New England Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Endicott hosts Wentworth on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
