Kutztown Unable to Contain No. 15 Bloomsburg's Offense

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - A fast start to the second half brought Kutztown within a two goal deficit, but a six-goal run to close out the game by the 15th-ranked Bloomsburg Huskies secured the 13-5 decision in a PSAC match-up from University Field on Saturday.

Facing a 6-2 deficit at halftime, Kutztown (2-6, 0-4 PSAC) brought the game within two (7-5) with 18:54 remaining off of two goals by Jillian Spencer (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) and one by Taylor Sandin (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck). Bloomsburg (6-2, 4-0 PSAC) put its foot back on the throttle to rattle off six straight goals and close out the 13-5 victory.

Sophomore Brielle Dickey (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) netted the second goal for the Maroon and Gold off of a pass from Spencer. All three goals in the second half were unassisted.

Freshman Courtney O'Neill (Stratford, NJ/Sterling) continues to make her presence known on the defense, leading the team in both caused turnovers (6) and groundballs (5). O'Neill was the only Golden Bear to cause more than one turnover. Goalie JoAnn McLaughlin (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape) made six saves in net.

Marisa Moley had a career day for the Huskies, recording two goals and three assists. Brigid Kyne led the way with a hat-trick; Carly Ball, Morgan Sheriff, and Patrice Coleman were all double scorers, and Ashely Bossert and Julia Falk netted a goal each.

Kutztown will hit the road to Shippensburg University this Tuesday, April 1 for a conference match-up starting at 4:00 p.m.
