St. Andrews Falls to Top-Ranked SCAD

Laurinburg, NC- St. Andrews dropped their final regular season game on Saturday falling 19-3 to the top-ranked team in the nation, SCAD-Savannah (Ga.). However, senior midfielder Catherine Lovallo (SR/Old Bridge, NJ) was then named player of the week of the South Region from March 23-29, the NWLL announced on Sunday.

Lovallo had 7 goals, 1 assist, 1 ground ball, 3 caused turnovers, 8 draw control wins and one interception on the week. Lovallo scored one of the three goals in the loss against SCAD while also winning 3 draws. Midfielder Risa Wautel (JR/Baltimore, MD) scored the two other goals for SAU including a nice one to cut SCAD's lead to 3-1 early in the first half. She also led the team with 6 ground balls while fellow midfielder Anastasia Schultz (SO/Atlanta, GA) had three ground balls, a draw control win and five shots on goal. SCAD then went on to win a few more draws in the first half to take a 12-2 halftime lead.

SCAD would then go on to control the draws and take possession most of the second half outscoring the Knights 7-1 on the way to their tenth win as they improve to 10-0 on the year. The Lady Bees had 11 different players score goals for them while Charlotte Cutts led with 3 goals and 5 draw control wins.

St. Andrews falls to 3-8 in the regular season and will now meet #4 seed Emmanuel College (6-5) in the South Region First Round on April 11 at 7:00 pm at Columbia College, SC. The winner will advance to Saturday afternoon's semifinals.
