Morris, Phelan Score 5 Each as Rams Run by Bobcats

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Sophomore attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn) and sophomore midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) each scored five goals to lead Shepherd to a 21-9 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday.

Phelan also had an assist, while junior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) added three goals and a game-high four assists for the Rams.

Senior midfielder Christina Ferrara (California, Md./Leonardtown) and sophomore midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) each had a pair of goals.

Junior attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) had a goal and an assist, while senior attacker Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), senior midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, Md./Westminster), and junior defender Greysen Brooks (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) each had single goals.

Jessica Hardman had three goals, while Taylor Holmes and Kelly Steen each added two to lead the Bobcats.

Shepherd rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to take a 15-6 lead into intermission behind four goals from Morris and three each from Phelan and Karr.

Junior netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) recorded four saves for the Rams, while Kalli Morgan had 12 saves for West Virginia Wesleyan.

Shepherd had a 39-15 edge in shots. The Rams had a 16-11 edge in ground balls.

Shepherd improves to 7-3, while West Virginia Wesleyan falls to 3-7. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Millersville for a 1:00 p.m. contest at Ram Stadium.
