Mount St. Vincent Starts Fast, Tops Centenary

YONKERS, N.Y. - Mount Saint Vincent stormed out to a 9-2 lead after 20 minutes and held on to defeat Centenary College 19-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Tibbets Brook Park on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Devin Sutko (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) continued to lead the Cyclone offense with two goals and a pair of assists. Sutko was coming off an 11-point game Saturday at Gwynedd Mercy when she set a Centenary single-game record with seven assists.

Kelly Fraser netted her fourth of five goals at the 8:20 mark of the first half to give MSV a seven-goal lead.

Freshman Abby Voelkner (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) fired shots into the back of the net 70 seconds apart to bring Centenary within 9-4, but three-straight Dolphin goals brought MSV's edge to eight.

Mt. St. Vincent scored seven of the game's eight goals during the second half to put the contest away.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Wisniewski (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) made a career-high 13 saves and scooped up three ground balls during 60 minutes in net.

Voelkner added five ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls, while sophomore Kristen Rabenstein (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) caused four turnovers and grabbed a trio of ground balls.

Fraser recorded six points (5G, 1A) for MSV, while net minder Kacie McDonald stopped nine shots.

Centenary closes out its three-game road trip Thursday at Marywood (4:00 pm).
