Thomas Ties Record as BW Routs Hiram to Win Eighth Straight

BEREA, Ohio- Freshman midfielder Sierra Thomas (Medina) scored a school-record tying six goals and added two assists as Baldwin Wallace won its school-record eighth straight game with a 19-2 defeat of Hiram on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

During the eight game winning streak, BW (8-2) has outscored its opponents 140-50; including 76-12 over the last four games.

In addition to Thomas for the Yellow Jackets, junior midfielder Cara Wood (Shaker Heights/Laurel) recorded a career-high four goals and added a career-best five assists. Senior attack Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, NY.) and freshman midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River) each contributed three goals and added an assist. Hiram (3-5) was led by JoLyn Grover with two goals.

BW scored five unanswered goals to start the game before the Terriers tallied their first goal when Grover scored on the free position at the 23:47 mark.

The Yellow got two goals and an assist from Thomas and a goal from Bodkin, Maddie Russell and Wood in the early going. BW closed out the half by outscoring Hiram, 7-0, to lead 12-1 at the intermission. Thomas tacked on two more goals while Wood added two and Bodkin one.

The Yellow Jackets scored the first goal of the second half to extend the lead to 13-1 when Wood scored her fourth goal of the game with 23:41 remaining. The Terriers recorded their second goal of the game to cut the lead down to 13-2 on the second score of the game for Grover at the 21:50 mark. BW scored the six goals of the game.

In goal, senior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) played all 60 minutes, allowed two goals as she improved to 9-2 overall.

The Yellow Jackets are back on Friday, April 4 when they host the College of Wooster in a non-conference game on the Tressel Field at 7:30 p.m.
