No. 14 Lourdes Goes 8-0 with Win over Lawrence Tech

Lourdes began the outdoor portion of its home schedule on Wednesday night with an 18-8 victory over Lawrence Tech at Ottawa Hills High School to improve to 8-0 on the season.

Andrew DiMartini (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) scored seven times and added a pair of assists while Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) added five goals for Lourdes, which is ranked 14th in the latest CCLA Division II poll. Jared Yoshino (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) added four goals and two assists for a six-point night while Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.) also added two tallies.

Bichsel wasted little time putting Lourdes on top, scoring just 1:26 into the contest. Lawrence Tech answered with a goal just 24 seconds later, and the two sides traded two more markers before the Gray Wolves jumped in front for good. Lourdes scored the final five goals of the first quarter to take a 6-2 lead.

After the Blue Devils scored to open the second quarter, Lourdes scored six straight times, three coming from DiMartini, to take a 12-3 lead into halftime. Lawrence Tech made a run in the third quarter, scoring the first four goals of the stanza, and eventually pulled to within 13-8 with 6:12 left in the quarter. Lourdes scored the final goal of the third, then shutout the Blue Devils out in the fourth to secure the victory.

Lourdes outshot Lawrence Tech (4-1) 57-32 for the game, including 36-17 on goal. Connor Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) made nine stops in goal for the Gray Wolves while Adam Gohl made 18 saves for the Blue Devils.

Bryan Burnham led Lawrence Tech with three goals on the night.

Lourdes will put its unbeaten mark on the line Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves remain at home at Ottawa Hills to face Carnegie Melon. The opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
