Elizabethtown Falls in Overtime at Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. - Elizabethtown went into halftime with its first lead of the season Wednesday evening, but couldn't hold it late in the game as Rutgers-Camden rallied to send the non-conference contest to overtime. RUC scored twice and held the Jays to one goal to keep E-town winless on the season.

Elizabethtown (0-9) and Rutgers-Camden (3-6) alternated goals through the first 12 minutes of the game, each scoring twice, before the Blue Jays broke that streak and tallied twice to take its first lead of the contest at 3-2. Addie Stang scored EC's first three goals.

Cecilia Gross tied it back up at 3-3, one of four goals in the game for her. Mary Nell Donahue answered 47 seconds later to return the lead back to E-town.

The Scarlet Raptors tied it once again with 8:27 left in the opening half before Dana Robidoux gave Elizabethtown its first multi-goal advantage of the game, scoring two goals in a two minute span to make it 6-4. The Jays went into the intermission up 6-5.

Megan DeMichele opened up the second half with a goal for E-town, though RUC scored three unanswered over the following five minutes to move in front, 8-7.

Stang initiated a quick four-goal spurt for the Jays, scoring three of those four goals in only two minutes of game time. Her first of the three tied it 8-8, then Bri Rogers scored her first career collegiate goal before Stang's final two of the game made it 11-8.

Having already posted a season-best in goals, E-town found itself down after Rutgers-Camden mirrored the Jays' four-goal run with one of their own to take the lead back 12-11 with 12:49 remaining.

The Jays scored twice more in regulation, both coming off the stick of Robidoux. She scored 42 seconds after RUC had retaken the lead and then sent Elizabethtown back in front with less than six minutes to go.

The clock became an ally more and more as time wound down, but the Scarlet Raptors got the game-tying goal from Gross with 1:17 showing on the clock, eventually forcing overtime.
