Maritime Drops Skyline Tilt at Kean

UNION, N.J. (April 2, 2014) Maritime lost to Skyline Conference opponent Kean on Wednesday night by the score of 20-0. The loss drops the Privateers to 4-7 (0-2 Skyline) on the season, while the Cougars improve to 9-1 (1-0 Skyline).

Sophomore Mike Arnold (Plainedge, N.Y./Plainedge) recorded a career-high 20 saves in over 55 minutes of action. Freshman Alex Haim (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston Porter) made two saves in just under five minutes between the pipes.

Kean was led by Anthony Carpenter, who scored four goals and added two assists. Jeff Christiano had a hat trick with three goals and also chipped in with two helpers. The Cougars spread out the rest of the scoring over eight other players. In goal, Dino Vitale earned the win after making one save over the first half. Garrett VanDoren replaced Vitale and made three saves in the third quarter before Maxwell Fields ended the game with five saves in the last quarter.

Maritime will return to action on Saturday afternoon, April 5, with a road game at Skyline foe Stockton College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Ospreys' Multipurpose Athletic Field.
