Ohio Wesleyan Freezes Frostburg State, 14-11

Senior attacker Liz Stockdale (Beaver, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), sophomore midfielder Lura Allen (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Julia Fouts (Cleveland Heights/Hathaway Brown) scored as Ohio Wesleyan finished the first half with a 3-0 run and went on to defeat Frostburg State in non-conference action on Saturday.

The Bishops had taken a 3-1 lead on a goal by sophomore attacker Alexa Deaton (Eden, Md./Mercersburg Academy) with 18:27 left in the first half, but Frostburg responded with a score by freshman attacker Meredith Martin (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) less than 20 seconds later and tied the game on a goal by freshman attacker Holly Reidt (Freeland, Md./Hereford) with 10:34 left in the half.

Ohio Wesleyan's run gave the Bishops a 6-3 halftime lead.

The Bobcats closed to within 6-4 on a score by sophomore midfielder Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) in the opening seconds of the second half, but that was as close as Frostburg would come, as the teams traded goals throughout much of the second half.

Freshman attacker Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) led Ohio Wesleyan with 3 goals, while Allen, Fouts and junior attacker Jamie Blake (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) each contributed 2 goals and an assist.

Sophomore Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) had 8 saves.

Rihard led Frostburg State with 3 goals and an assist, while senior attacker Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./Wright) added 2 goals and an assist. Erin Morrell finished with 6 saves for Frostburg.
