Graybill Helps Lycoming Dominate Hood

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. Senior Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) finished with a career-high seven points to become the 14th player in school history to reach 100 career points, notching four goals and three assists to lead Lycoming to a 20-7 win over Hood in Commonwealth Conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon, April 5.

Graybill, whose previous career-high in points was six, helped pace the Warriors in the first half, posting four goals and an assist as Lycoming went into the break with a 15-3 lead. Sophomore Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) added three goals and an assist and senior Maureen Heagy (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) added two goals and three assists, as 13 different players scored for the Warriors.

Lycoming (5-7 overall, 1-3 Commonwealth) dominated the first half, firing 26 shots, picking up 14 draw controls and converting 5 of 10 free-position shots. The team started the scoring just 1:43 into the game, as Heagy scored from the free-position line and then the Warriors added five more goals in the next six minutes.

By the time Hood (5-4 overall, 0-3 Commonwealth) got on the board with 14:27 left in the half, the Warriors already held a 10-0 lead. After the goal, sophomore Kelsey Harshman (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinert) scored with 14:27 left to lead the Warriors on a 5-2 run to close out the half.

In the second half, the Warriors loosened the strings on its traditional lineup, moving several defenders into the offense, which led to sophomore Erica Spero (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly), freshman Elizabeth VanHorn (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), junior Liz Francescone (Cream Ridge, N.J./Notre Dame), junior Alysha Conley (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) and freshman Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) all scoring their first goals of the season.

Junior Kari Rybak (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) picked up three ground balls and five draws to go with one goal. VanHorn and Harshman each scooped up four of the team's 30 ground balls.

Ashley Kitzmiller led the Blazers, as she posted three goals, two assists, four ground balls and four draw controls. Taylor McGaughey notched two goals and an assist and Shay Braithwaite had a ground ball and five draw controls.

In net, Gerling (5-7) earned the win for the Warriors, making four stops and allowing three goals in the first half. Freshman Casey Martindale (Davidsonville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) stopped eight shots and allowed four goals in the second half. Hood keeper Lauren Couch (5-4) stopped seven shots.

The Warriors get back on the field on Monday, April 7, when they head to Arcadia for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Hood fell to Lycoming 20-7 in Commonwealth Conference action this afternoon.

The Warriors jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Megan Feldtmose (Hereford, Pa./Perkiomen) got the Blazers on the board with 14:27 left in the fist half. Kesley Harshman answered 61 seconds later to extend the lead back to 10 at 11-1.

After Lycoming scored two more goals Ashley Kitzmiller (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) scored with 3:17 remaining to cut the deficit down to 13-2. April Ganz (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) scored with 1:55 on the clock, with the assist from Christina Murphy (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls), to get Hood back within 10.

Amber Graybill scored her fourth goal of the half at 1:27 and Savannah Fox scored her third of the half to send Lycoming into intermission with a 15-3 lead.
